Pourquoi l’Institut Ramon Llull a-t-il décidé de soutenir et d’accompagner huit compagnies à Avignon ?
Alex Susanna : L’Institut, qui fête son dixième anniversaire, est un consortium public formé par le gouvernement catalan et le gouvernement des Iles Baléares, en charge de tout ce qui concerne la promotion internationale de la langue et la culture catalanes. Si pour la première fois nous avons décidé de mettre en œuvre l’implantation de huit compagnies catalanes à Avignon, c’est pour deux raisons. D’une part, cela est dû au formidable renouveau de la scène catalane. Avec le début de la démocratie, cette scène catalane avait connu une effervescence remarquable, puis avait décliné, et elle a aujourd’hui récupéré sa créativité et sa vitalité. Ce renouvellement se manifeste notamment par une importante transversalité, par de multiples croisements entre disciplines, par l’utilisation des nouvelles technologies. De nouvelles générations investissent le terrain de la création. D’autre part, notre présence à Avignon constitue un aboutissement après avoir participé à divers festivals en France : au Festival de Marionnettes de Charleville avec un focus catalan, aux Nuits de Fourvière à Lyon, à Cratères Surfaces à Alès, etc. Nous voulons que notre présence se consolide et s’inscrive dans une continuité.
Raül Martinez : A la différence d’autres instituts culturels, nous n’avons pas de lieux propres de programmation, nous développons des collaborations régulières avec des programmateurs, invités à venir voir les spectacles en Catalogne et aux Baléares. Avignon est une façon de continuer ce travail en condensé au moment où tout le monde est là.
Comment expliquez-vous ce renouveau de la scène catalane ?
A. S. : La vitalité de la scène catalane est liée au développement de fabriques de création à Barcelone, d’anciennes friches industrielles abandonnées ont été transformées en espaces de création, dans un quartier rénové, le 22@. Le renouvellement du cirque et de la danse est notamment associé à ces fabriques de création, qui existent depuis une dizaine d’années. Nous sommes en train de cueillir les fruits de cette production : la créativité artistique a atteint sa maturité. Barcelone est une pépinière de talents ! Il existe par ailleurs en France un intérêt croissant pour les textes dramaturgiques catalans, et un comité de lecture s’est créé à la Maison Antoine Vitez.
Quelles sont les compagnies de cette édition 2012 ?
A. S. : Elles ont été choisies par une commission d’experts, et nous avons établi quelques critères, par exemple celui d’éviter toute barrière linguistique. Un spectacle est en français, Don Juan, amère mémoire de moi par la compagnie Pelmanec, tandis que les autres privilégient l’aspect visuel et gestuel.
R. M. : Beaucoup de ces compagnies ont été primées, et beaucoup innovent et conjuguent les disciplines. La compagnie circassienne “eia“ fonde son spectacle sur l’acrobatie avec comme fil conducteur les rapports sociaux, elle fait partie d’un programme de collaboration avec Midi-Pyrénées. La compagnie Pere Faura invente une performance à la frontière des genres qui revisite avec un humour décapant la ritualisation du striptease. Les compagnies Katraska et Mariantonia Oliver avec des spectacles jeune public s’inscrivent dans un projet euro-régional Pyrénées Méditerranée. Alba Sarraute crée un personnage clownesque entre rire et larmes, la compagnie Los Excentricos présente un spectacle surréaliste de clowns musiciens, Operetta par la compagnie Cor de Teatre propose une vision délirante de la musique chorale. Pour toutes ces compagnies, nous avons cherché des lieux bien repérés afin de favoriser la rencontre avec les programmateurs et le public.
