On ne présente plus Avishai Cohen, tout à la fois contrebassiste, chanteur et compositeur qui s’est imposé comme l’un des grands noms du jazz actuel. Et que dire de Makoto Ozone, pianiste qui à partir des États-Unis a construit une carrière qui l’a peu à peu fait dévier de la sphère jazz pour aborder le répertoire classique. Avec ce duo baptisé Amity – un terme japonais qui signifie amitié, paix, harmonie et compréhension mutuelle –, ce dernier réalise son « rêve ». « Je ne peux pas décrire à quel point je suis excité de découvrir ce que ça fait d’être dans le monde de la musique écrite par un vrai génie », prédisait en novembre 2022 le pianiste. « Makoto maîtrise à la fois les capacités classiques et jazz, ce qui est pour moi la combinaison parfaite », ajoutait tout aussi enthousiaste le contrebassiste. Autant dire que ces deux concerts sont placés sous les auspices de l’accord parfait.
