Le trio, c’est la formule classique du jazz, un ticket gagnant pour la postérité. De Keith Jarrett à EST, on ne compte plus les références en la matière. C’est pourtant sur ce terrain largement balisé qu’Avishaï Cohen a affirmé et affiné une singularité sonore, un jazz composite où résonnent ses multiples expériences. Avec la maturité, le contrebassiste s’est ainsi laissé aller à tous ses désirs, chantant à mi-voix ou pianotant sans se la jouer, avec toujours le jazz en ligne de mire. C’est cet univers aux frontières de bien des musiques qui a conquis un large public, séduit par les accents pop et les prestations scéniques d’Avishaï Cohen. Lequel creuse encore plus profond le riche terreau mélodique de la terre sanctifiée où il est né, avec « Aurora », opus siglé par la plus célèbre firme du jazz.
