C’est le « marronnier » musical. Chaque année, aux alentours de Pâques, les salles de concert programment l’une des Passions de Bach. Cette fois-ci, c’est la Passion selon Saint Jean qui est à l’honneur, avec pas moins de trois interprétations différentes en l’espace de quelques jours. La première a pour particularité d’être donnée avec des instruments modernes, ceux de l’Ensemble orchestral de Paris. Les baroqueux seront néanmoins rassurés en sachant que les musiciens vont être dirigés par Reinhard Goebel, l’un des pionniers du retour aux instruments anciens. Avec son ensemble Musiqua Antiqua Köln, il a notamment signé l’une des versions de référence des Concertos brandebourgeois de Bach (Archiv Produktion) A chaque fois, ce musicien sait allier une énergie communicative à une sonorité à la fois brute et profonde. Autre atout de ce concert : le rôle de l’évangéliste sera tenu par Werner Güra, au grain sensible. A noter que les parties chorales seront assurées par les voix des enfants de la Maîtrise de Notre-Dame de Paris (toujours très bien préparée par Lionel Sow), où se déroule d’ailleurs ce concert.
Lecture intimiste
A la Salle Gaveau, on pourra entendre les instruments anciens de l’ensemble belge Il Fondamento, trop peu connu de ce côté-ci du Quiévrain. A leur tête, on retrouve Paul Dombrecht, hautboïste baroque de talent. Ce dernier a souhaité donner une lecture intimiste de la Passion selon Saint-Jean, en confiant les parties de chœur aux solistes vocaux (Caroline Weynants, Clint van der Linde, Mikael Stenbaek, Henk Gunneman, Jan van der Crabben et Hugo Oliviera). Au Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, c’est au tour de Ton Koopman de diriger ce monument de la musique sacrée. Continuiste hors pair (ses ornements toujours volubiles !), le musicien s’entoure de solistes rompus au style baroque (Marlis Petersen, Maarten Engeltjes, Tilman Lichdi et Klaus Mertens). C’est peu dire que l’orchestre et le chœur baroques d’Amsterdam sont des experts de ce répertoire.
