Récemment, un tweet interrogeait la nature même du musicien né au Liban, grandi en France. « #fusion #electro #jazz #arabic #world… Quoi d’autre ? », s’amusait Bachar Mar-Khalifé. Et bien plus ou moins tout le reste. Du classique oblique, qu’il a pratiqué au piano comme aux percussions, à la pop décalée, qu’il honorait dans son précédent disque, à travers notamment Gainsbourg. Difficile de cerner la musique de Bachar Mar-Khalifé : transversale, mélange de poésie totale et d’orchestration radicale. Comme l’éprouve une nouvelle fois son formidable Ya Balad, toujours sur InFiné. Un voyage sonore qui sera poursuivi par les trips hallucinants d’Acid Arab, paire d’électrons libres venus de la house parisienne, que les deux compères réhaussent de sons orientaux glanés depuis plusieurs années.
