C’est sur les ruines d’un pays au bord du gouffre économique et du précipice moral que Bachar Mar-Khalifé a composé la thématique de son album, On/Off, métaphore pour qualifier l’état du Liban. Dans la maison familiale nichée dans les hauteurs du Nord, il s’est nourri de la dualité de ses montagnes natales, glaciales et hostiles la nuit, ensoleillées et sereines le jour, pour exprimer l’amour et l’espoir qui irriguent ses pensées. Résultat : un album tout en clair-obscur, entre réminiscences orientales et influences électroniques, entre incantations en arabe et chansons en français, qui s’inscrit parfaitement dans le sillon que creuse le fils de l’immense Marcel depuis désormais plus de deux lustres. Prêt à réveiller les consciences politiques, mais avec les armes de la poésie.
