Si l’on enlève tout l’habillage, les lumières et l’extravagance de l’exotisme invité ici à Paris, il reste de Balé de Rua une aventure humaine portée par l’histoire du peuple afro-brésilien. Si la compagnie est née au début des années 90, ce n’est véritablement qu’en 2000 que le projet de ces danseurs « de rue » se professionnalise. Après leur passage à Lyon, tout s’accélère : ils représentent leur pays lors de l’année du Brésil en France, obtiennent des financements privés et se lancent dans un programme de soutien et de formation en direction de jeunes artistes brésiliens. Leur spectacle, réunissant 15 danseurs dont certains issus de cette école, est une mise en scène débordante qui raconte l’histoire de ces jeunes issus des quartiers populaires d’une petite ville du Minas Gerais. A grand renfort de percussions, de musiques composées par Vincent Artaud et Nana Vasconcelos, la danse propose un voyage au cœur de toutes les influences qui composent la culture chorégraphique brésilienne.
