« Nous voulons parler du Brésil, de notre Brésil, du Brésil que nous aimons ». Dès le début, l’argument est déployé, et voici que l’on nous plonge dans une fresque dansée mettant à l’honneur le pays et l’histoire de quinze interprètes visiblement surchauffés. Le Bale de Rua étonne d’abord par son énergie – du ballet pour les grands ensembles taillés au cordeau, et de la rue pour les solos empreints de hip hop ou de capoeira. Le spectacle est en réalité un enchaînement de tableaux, jouant sur l’impact des images et de la physicalité des danseurs. D’un Brésil de légèreté, guidé par chacun des petits pas de samba, on passe à des évocations plus ancrées dans la réalité du pays : voici des Marie de pacotille, des esclaves enchaînés. On ne peut évidemment faire fi d’une histoire si proche si l’on veut évoquer le pays. Reste à savoir comment cette histoire s’écrit dans les corps, puisque c’est de chorégraphie qu’il s’agit ici.
De quel Brésil s’agit-t-il dans les corps ?
On reconnaît dans leur danse l’énergie du combat (accompagnée du cri qui tue), la puissance des corps, l’exaltation du mouvement, le déploiement de gestes et de sons, la virtuosité éclatante et le plaisir de danser. On aime leurs corps triomphants, la débauche de figures acrobatiques, leur joie de vivre et les effets de masse strictement réglés. Mais tout ceci reste un corps sans faille, qui n’accepte pas le malaise, qui ne reconnaît pas le poids de son histoire, qui ne laisse aucune place à l’individu. Que raconte-t-il vraiment du Brésil ? On se retrouve alors devant un spectacle – un show – qui produit de l’effet, alors même que c’est la danse qui devrait produire du sens, voire de l’émotion. Cet effet agit et le public exulte, prêt à danser la samba entre les fauteuils. On peut aussi préférer se tourner vers un Brésil plus créatif que festif, comme par exemple avec la compagnie Membros, également issue de la rue, qui à elle seule rassemble virtuosité, invention, et radicalité bien placée.
