Encore deux semaines, toujours beaucoup de rendez-vous en tous genres dans une programmation particulièrement relevée cette année. Tout d’abord pour les amateurs du groove démultiplié : tendance jazz-country-funk totalement débridé avec Medeski, Martin & Wood, style soul avec la voix protestante de Mavis Staple, genre 100 % dynamite funk pour l’altiste Maceo Parker ou bien option afro-free-funk-rap avec le bien nommé Hypnotic Brass Ensemble. Ensuite, comme à l’accoutumé, des concerts pour ceux qui aiment les jazz suggestifs : le pianiste sud-africain Abdullah Ibrahim autour d’Ellington, la rencontre franco-finlandaise intitulée Aänet, le guitariste Fred Frith dans une formule qui promet, le trio du pianiste Matthew Shipp accompagnant les images du boxeur Floyd Mayweather, le jazz de chambre du violoncelliste Ernst Reijseger ou encore Wark, quartet issu du CNSM dont la rumeur dit le plus grand bien.

En outre, nombre de projets associent pour cette édition la musique aux mots. Ainsi, la réunion des Last Poets, considérés comme les prophètes du rap, s’annonce vivement conseillée. Dans le genre tambour de bouche qui swingue dru, le « digi-box » du terrible Mike Ladd devrait sans doute mettre les poings sur les hics. Sur un autre registre, le verbe de Jacques Bonnafé rejoindra la verve du trompettiste Médéric Collignon, dans une mise en scène de David Lescot. De même, la voix de Jacques Rebotier s’associe à la clarinette de Louis Sclavis et aux claviers de Paul Broussau pour une performance décapante, baptisée “Pasaje !”. Quant à Marceline Delbecq, elle invoquera en images et de la voix une actrice du cinéma muet, accompagné au piano par Benoît Delbecq. Last but not least, impossible d’en finir sans évoquer deux curiosités dont le festival a le secret : les frères Belmondo sont invités à revisiter le Grateful Dead et Jerry Dammers, le pilier des séminaux Specials, vient saluer Sun Ra pour le concert de clôture. Immanquable.
