SEINE MUSICALE / PIANO ET ORCHESTRE
Le piano volubile de Baptiste Trotignon, découvert il y a un quart de siècle en trio, s’est souvent rapproché des couleurs symphoniques. Dans L’Air de rien, la rythmique jazz du soliste joue avec les tenues, les ostinatos et les miroitements de l’orchestre. L’inspiration semble parfois venir de Keith Jarrett, Leonard Bernstein ou Bernard Herrmann – d’outre-Atlantique à coup sûr. Le reste du programme le confirme : Baptiste Trotignon interprète la Rhapsody in blue de Gershwin, exemple absolu de fusion des idiomes jazz et classique. Il laisse l’orchestre aux mains du seul Ryan McAdams pour la « Sunday Symphony » (1958) de William Grant Still, qui puisa inlassablement dans l’imaginaire musical afro-américain, et pour Naked Blue (2022) de Devonté Hynes, venu des horizons bigarrés de la pop music.
