« Comment rester ou redevenir humain après la tragédie ? » C’est la question que pose la metteure en scène Anne Bisang, et c’est aussi l’une de celles qui taraudent la jeune auteur serbe Biljana Srbljanovic, qui dans son œuvre affronte la déflagration qui a frappé les Balkans et les crises qui secouent notre société, afin de questionner le futur dans un style novateur, puissant et tranchant. Un style qui l’a rendue célèbre et l’a propulsée sur de nombreuses scènes d’Europe. Barbelo est sa dernière pièce, traversée par un humour acéré et une sombre ironie, notamment sur le thème de la filiation, ici très problématique. « Barbelo est la matrice d’une mère, un endroit protégé et chaud, hors du temps et précédent le début de tout » dit-elle. On trouve au fil de l’histoire un politicien dangereux, un petit garçon boulimique, une femme enceinte (d’un enfant ou d’un animal…)… Des êtres oscillant entre burlesque et tragique.
