Bernardo Montet, issu de la « jeune danse française » des années 1980 et aujourd’hui directeur du Centre Chorégraphique National de Tours, revient en 2007 à une forme qu’il n’avait plus approchée depuis longtemps : le solo. Dans le titre qu’il choisit pour cette exposition solitaire, il y a de l’humour, du mystère. Il y a aussi, sans avoir l’air d’y toucher, une référence discrète à l’histoire de la danse : Batracien, l’après-midi joue à faire écho à L’Après-midi d’un faune, la célèbre pièce de Nijinski, qui fit scandale en 1912 et qui continue aujourd’hui de nous poser des questions de désir, de rencontre, de représentation du corps et des émotions. Le batracien, finalement, est un peu comme le faune, mi-homme mi-animal : chacun sait qu’il suffit parfois d’un baiser pour transformer le crapaud en être humain. Premier vertébré sorti de l’eau, il nous renvoie aussi à nos origines, à l’épopée de l’histoire humaine. Animalité, imaginaires collectifs, transformation : ce sont les thèmes qui travaillent Batracien, l’après-midi – un titre qui fait aussi de ce solo un prolongement à la précédente pièce de Bernardo Montet, qui en 2006 signait Les batraciens s’en vont, avec cinq interprètes.
Collaboration avec une plasticienne sonore
Pour ce nouvel opus, Bernardo Montet n’est cependant pas totalement seul : il s’est adjoint une « plasticienne acousticienne », Lorella Abenavoli. Cette dernière travaille, entre autres, à partir des mouvements de la Terre : au moyen de capteurs sismiques, elle enregistre le souffle terrestre, c’est-à-dire les infrasons, inaudibles à l’oreille humaine, qui nous traversent en permanence. Elle transforme ces sons pour qu’ils deviennent audibles, et façonne cette « matière sonore », résonance du temps et de l’espace. Dans ce décor acoustique, que Bernardo Montet compare à une boîte noire, le mouvement se déploie comme une traversée de la matière, du magma aux vibrations aériennes. Une traversée dans laquelle, souligne le chorégraphe, « la terre, la chair, le souffle, la plainte, les bégaiements, le chant constituent la danse ».
