FESTIVAL / CENTRE WALLONIE-BRUXELLES
Vivier de musiciens de jazz exceptionnels depuis toujours, à commencer par Django Reinhardt (né en 1910 dans la roulotte familiale installée à Liberchies…), la Belgique braque ses projecteurs grâce au Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles sur quelques-uns de ses meilleurs talents. Véritable parrain de la scène bruxelloise, le guitariste Philip Catherine a logiquement les honneurs du concert d’ouverture, en duo avec le jeune pianiste Nicola Andrioli (le 5 à 20h). Beaucoup de découvertes sont ensuite à l’affiche à travers trois double-plateaux : le jazz progressif et sous influences multiples du groupe Cruz controL, (album le Comment du pOurqÙoi?), puis la chanteuse Mélanie De Biasio entre compositions personnelles et standards (le 6 à 20h), deux groupes atypiques du Collectif du Lion, Le Rêve d’Eléphant Orchestra et Animus Anima (le 7 à 20h), et enfin une carte blanche au plus célèbre label de jazz belge, Igloo, qui présente (le 8 à 20h) deux de ses plus récentes productions avec les albums « Road story » du jeune pianiste prodige Igor Gehenot et « It could be the end » de Sal La Rocca, contrebassiste incontournable, sollicité par le gratin du jazz international de Philip Catherine à Lee Konitz ou Steve Grossman.
