En reprenant les Pink Floyd de la décennie précédant le cultissime album The Wall, le groupe Encore Floyd s’attaque aux bases du rock progressif et psyché. Une décennie riche en légendes, du premier album de Pink Floyd dû à l’imprévisible Syd Barrett, au pamphlet socio-musical du non moins mythique Animals, album dont on retrouve le visuel de l’usine de la Battersea Power Station sur l’affiche du Vingtième Théâtre. Les Pink Floyd de ces early seventies sont prolifiques, novateurs, croisent la musique et les arts graphiques, écrivent plusieurs albums qui snobent le format radiophonique, et portent une part d’investissement idéologique et philosophique. Encore Floyd est évidemment constitué d’inconditionnels de Pink Floyd, mais avant tout de musiciens doués, venus du rock et du jazz. Leur interprétation se veut fidèle au modèle ; Encore Floyd se situe dans une volonté de démonstration rock de l’univers Pink Floyd, plutôt que dans un hommage musical. Le spectacle est évidemment total, dans la lignée des concepts progressifs, avec un vrai rôle de la vidéo, de la matière sonore et de l’esthétique du groupe.
