COMEDIE MUSICALE / TOURNEE IDF
C’est un classique inusable de la comédie musicale. Oeuvre d’un quatuor de choc, Bells are ringing a été créée en 1956, par les scénaristes Betty Comden et Adolph Green (auteurs de Chantons sous la pluie), le pétillant compositeur Jule Styne (Les Hommes préfèrent les blondes) et le metteur en scène-chorégraphe Jerome Robbins, qui créera un an plus tard West Side Story. L’histoire est celle d’une opératrice téléphonique dans le New York des années 50, prétexte à de belles envolées sentimentales et parfois cocasses. Vicente Minnelli en a tiré avec succès un film. De son côté, Jean Lacornerie nous en révèle un aspect relevant presque du théâtre musical, en liant le plus étroitement possible la direction d’acteur au rythme de la partition. Il s’associe pour l’occasion aux excellentes Percussions claviers de Lyon, encore trop peu connues à Paris. L’ensemble revisite la partition de Jule Styne en l’arrangeant pour marimba et autres xylophones. Le résultat est irrésistible, à la fois énergique et coloré.
