Théâtre de la Carreterie / texte de Isabelle Stibbe / adaptation et mes Pierre-Olivier Scotto
Son prénom est né de l’admiration de son père pour la France, terre d’accueil après les pogroms russes. Pour se consacrer à sa passion de la scène, elle endure une rupture totale avec sa famille. A quinze ans, elle est reçue première au concours du Conservatoire, puis voue sa vie aux ors et velours de la Comédie-Française, où elle devient brillante jeune sociétaire. Madame de Lignières lui a offert son aide et son nom : la fille de Moïshe Kapelouchnik est devenue Bérénice de Lignières, tragédienne née, applaudie par le public et les critiques les plus exigeants. Mais Paris bientôt va sombrer, et, impitoyable dommage collatéral, la Comédie-Française exclut ses acteurs juifs. Parmi les protagonistes de l’intrigue : Louis Jouvet, Edouard Bourdet, Jacques Copeau, Jean-Louis Barrault, Pierre Dux, Véra Korène… Avec un sens du suspense captivant, le portrait dépeint l’irruption de la folie nazie et des bassesses humaines dans ce destin de femme vénérant le théâtre.
