THÉÂTRE DE SAINT-QUENTIN-EN-YVELINES / RÉCITAL
Alors que Bérénice a ouvert la saison de l’Opéra de Paris avec la création mondiale de Michael Jarrell, c’est à un tout autre projet que nous convie Opéra Fuoco. Son directeur artistique, David Stern, fidèle du Théâtre de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, y propose une soirée mettant en perspective différentes musiques inspirées par Bérénice, non pas la reine de Palestine que nous connaissons bien grâce à Racine, mais une princesse d’Égypte, elle aussi partagée entre amour et devoir. Le chef d’orchestre se focalise en particulier sur les adaptations de la Scena di Berenice de Métastase « Ah Berenice, che fai… », qui permettent de saisir « l’inspiration enthousiaste que plusieurs des grands génies du xviiie siècle ont puisé pour en faire un monument de l’air de concert. » Hasse, Mazzoni, Mozart, Haydn, Johann Christian Bach sont donc conviés à figurer dans ce récital, mais aussi la plus confidentielle compositrice Marianna Martinez, élève de Métastase, qui livre selon David Stern « la musique la plus crue et la plus convaincante, (…) sans protection et sans vernis. » Si un enregistrement de ce programme a été réalisé récemment chez Aparté avec Lea Desandre, Natalie Pérez et Chantal Santon-Jeffery, on retrouve ici uniquement ces deux dernières interprètes auxquelles s’ajoute la mezzo Axelle Fanyo.
