Écriture et mise en scène Steven Matthews
L’écriture de Steven Matthews, de même que son travail de mise en scène, sont à hauteur d’enfant. Employé en crèche avant d’embrasser le théâtre, il a gardé de cette expérience professionnelle le désir de développer pour le jeune public des récits qui sortent des stéréotypes. Des formes qui prennent les enfants et préados au sérieux. Dans Biais aller-retour, il le fait en abordant un phénomène étudié en psychologie : les « biais cognitifs ». Autrement dit, explique-t-il, « les traitements différents que chaque personne va donner à la même information, en fonction de son bagage social, personnel, culturel, moral, politique ». Pour aborder son sujet, il opte pour la comédie. Aussi narratif que performatif, son spectacle dit la richesse des points de vue, des contradictions. Il fait l’éloge de l’ouverture et de la subjectivité.
