C’est dans le droit chemin des facéties créées par le duo Jérôme Deschamps / Macha Makeïeff que François Morel et Olivier Saladin inscrivent leur nouvelle aventure théâtrale. Le chemin d’une drôlerie décalée, loufoque, acide mais tendre, fantaisiste et mélancolique, étrangement libre. Deux chaises, deux petites tables, un flamant rose géant, des piles de cartes postales, les voix de Barbara et celle de Jean Rochefort : dans la peau d’un Monsieur et d’une Madame Rouchon bien de chez nous, les deux comédiens égrènent, de missive en missive, les péripéties et les déconvenues touristiques que les deux globe-trotters confient à leurs amis les Brochon. « Ces gens sont loin de chez eux, confie François Morel, quelque part, en vacances, et au fond ils s’ennuient et ne pensent qu’à ce qui se passe là-bas, c’est-à-dire d’où ils viennent. Chez soi, on rêve de croisières, d’azur et de palmiers. [Une fois] si loin, on a la nostalgie de ses chaussons. »
Toute la drôlerie de l’univers des Deschiens
Comique de geste, de situation, de mot, de caractère, de mœurs, comique de répétition : la panoplie est complète. A travers, certes, quelques bas, mais surtout de nombreux hauts, François Morel et Olivier Saladin construisent une représentation d’une grande efficacité humoristique. Sortant fréquemment de leurs rôles de voyageurs franchouillards, les deux comédiens se laissent aller à l’ailleurs de digressions cocasses et touchantes. Car la grande singularité de ces interprètes est de parvenir à ouvrir le champ d’émotions complexes et insolites. Ce sont, en effet, toutes les contradictions et tous les embarras de l’humanité qui semblent parfois apparaître dans la fixité d’un regard, la gêne d’un sourire perdu, la complicité enfantine d’une entente partagée… Olivier Saladin et François Morel (qui signe également le texte et la mise en scène) parviennent à nous dire bien des choses à travers cette composition théâtrale construite autour de l’idée du voyage. Des choses qui dépassent très souvent le seul pouvoir des mots.
