« Avec drôlerie et tendresse, Valéry Ndongo explore les rapports entre Noirs et Blancs, Africains et Européens, leurs histoires d’amour, d’amitié et de business. L’humour permet d’interroger l’Histoire, de gratter la plaie tout en soufflant dessus, sans jamais verser dans le discours revanchard. », dit Sonia Ristic, qui met en scène le clown noir Ndongo, conteur désopilant des aventures de son quartier de Yaoundé, le Kwatt. En parlant le camfranglais, cette langue savoureuse qui emprunte au français, à l’anglais et au dialecte africain, et qui forme l’argot des jeunes Camerounais, il invente des personnages hauts en couleurs : « marabouts, femmes jalouses, jeunes désœuvrés qui rêvent de Paris, Blancs européens en quête d’exotisme ». Aussi pertinent qu’incisif, Valéry Ndongo réussit le tour de force de parler des choses sérieuses en n’oubliant jamais d’en rire, et offre une jolie leçon d’humanité en forme de parade joyeuse et spirituelle.
