C’est en glanant patiemment de petits éclats du quotidien que Philippe Quesne prélève la matière de son théâtre. Examinés dans son « Vivarium Studio », triturés, questionnés, passés à l’acide caustique d’un humour décapant, les menus rituels de l’existence deviennent prétextes à expérimentations et fictions qui révèlent incidemment le tragique désopilant de l’extrême ordinaire. Calé entre vrai et faux, présentation et représentation, le processus théâtral met sérieusement en jeu la fabrique du fictionnel et manie sans cesse les codes spectaculaires à double sens : tout en tissant la trame d’une fable à même les motifs de notre époque, il interroge ses propres effets, généralement bricolés à la pince-sans-rire et exhibés à vue. Issu des Arts déco, longtemps scénographe, l’auteur et metteur en scène procède par agencement de matériaux hétéroclites – textes, objets, images, saynètes, peintures, films, musiques, etc. – qu’il décale à coups d’incongruités bien aiguisées. Depuis son premier forfait, commis en 2003, il poursuit ses investigations avec un groupe de fidèles compagnons qui apportent en scène leur état d’être et leur manière de corps.
« Que se passe-t-il quand l’acteur apparaît ? »
Big bang, comme son nom l’indique, remonte sans doute à la création du monde… mais lequel ? Explosion gigantesque, théorie fondatrice, simple onomatopée, premier balbutiement de la vie organique ou surgissement de l’événement théâtral… le titre sert toujours d’ouvroir d’imaginaire, suscitant tentatives improbables, inventions diverses et autres expériences nourries d’éléments collectés de-ci delà. « En ce moment, je lis quelques « histoires du monde », des livres sur la théorie de l’évolution, ou l’essai de Celeste Olalquiaga, Royaume de l’artifice. L’émergence du kitsch au XIXe siècle. Je regarde les films documentaires de Jean Painlevé qui sont presque des comédies musicales sur la vie de l’infiniment petit sous-marin, du plancton. » explique Philippe Quesne, qui pioche aussi volontiers dans l’univers de la BD. La troupe, qui accueille pour la bonne occasion de nouveaux venus, cherche avec tout cela sur le plateau. De fil en aiguille la partition dramaturgique se faufile, à partir d’actions physiques développées sur le thème, de séquences improvisées, de télescopages intempestifs ou de minutieux collages. Ainsi s’écrivent peu à peu les petites et grandes histoires des hommes…
