C’est en plongée que le spectateur découvre Black out, spectacle créé en 2011 par Philippe Saire. A travers ce point de vue original, le voilà placé au-dessus d’une grande boîte noire qui renferme les danseurs et l’espace scénique. Tel un curieux, un passant accoudé à une balustrade et qui se penche pour mieux voir, ou tel un voyeur, il regarde le monde d’en haut. Qu’y voit-il ? Le chorégraphe a rassemblé dans son cube trois danseurs, qui font le jeu d’un rapport troublant avec le spectateur mais aussi d’un dialogue avec l’espace et la matière dans leur dimension graphique et plastique.
Une danse qui se dessine
Leurs évolutions sont construites par les possibilités d’interaction avec une matière noire et granuleuse qui manque de les recouvrir. Tout à tour cendre, terre, charbon, sable chaud, cette matière fluide bouge à mesure que les corps la manipulent à travers leur danse, et dessine sur le sol d’étranges volutes. Dans ce paysage qui se forme et se déforme en noir et blanc, les danseurs en chair et en os se glissent peu à peu dans des figures moins recommandables, laissant apparaître leur part d’ombre, ensevelis sous cette matière de plus en plus prégnante, à la recherche des gestes enfouis. L’atmosphère de Black out n’en devient que plus envoûtante.
