Et si Blanche DuBois, personnage de la pièce Un Tramway nomme Désir, était à l’origine de l’ouragan Katrina qui a dévasté la Nouvelle Orléans en 2005 ? C’est la question que se posent les membres de la compagnie Jours tranquilles dans Blanche / Katrina, spectacle créé en mars dernier lors du festival Programme commun, à Lausanne. A la base de cette hypothèse : un effet domino qui pourrait avoir relié, à une cinquantaine d’années de distance, la vie de l’héroïne de Tennessee Williams à la destruction de la ville. « L’enjeu sera d’ériger Blanche en mythe fondateur d’un événement qui nous dépasse, d’une nature et d’un climat qui se dérèglent, et d’en extirper la possible poésie », expliquent les membres de la compagnie suisse. Défendant l’idée que le théâtre est un lieu à même de renouveler les troubles et les interrogations ontologiques qui habitent l’homme, le metteur en scène Fabrice Gorgerat s’attache ici à « transformer nos terreurs en œuvres d’art ». Cela afin d’avoir « un semblant de prise sur elles ».
