Créé en février dernier à la Scène nationale de la Guadeloupe (dans le cadre d’un projet de programmation dédié aux mythologies politiques guadeloupéennes), Bobo 1er, roi de personne convoque sur scène un des citoyens que la société a l’habitude de cantonner à l’ombre et au silence. « Clochard céleste, Bobo 1er règne sur un peuple imaginaire, un royaume sans trône, déclare Guillaume Clayssen. Emanent de lui l’humour et la grandeur des gens de peu, la grâce et le grotesque de ces âmes méprisées par la société, mais qui ont en elles, si on les écoute bien, un chant très beau et très profond. Le poète ici voit et fait voir par ses mots le cœur simple et musical d’un homme oublié par ses contemporains. » Prenant la forme d’un « cabaret barré et baroque », la pièce de Frantz Succab investit les espaces du délire comme ceux de la pensée. Et fait passer le personnage de Bobo, comme l’indique le metteur en scène, « de l’expression de la rage à la rage de l’expression ».
