Plus de vingt ans que Bojan Z a croisé la route de Julien Lourau. « J’avais 21 ans, lui 18. Il arrivait d’un concert de rockabilly. Le piano droit était rempli d’amplis, alors j’ai joué du Rhodes le temps d’un morceau : “The Peacocks” de Jimmy Rowles. Et là, je me suis dit : ”Putain, il connaît tous les plans de Bob Berg et de Michael Brecker !”. » Depuis ces deux-là se sont régulièrement invités, en studio ou en scène, et ont déjà eu le bonheur de jouer en duo. Un thème du disque “Koreni” en témoigne, tout comme de nombreux concerts. La complice paire de complémentaires sera encore à la manœuvre ce soir pour mettre en musique cette histoire d’amitié, après avoir chacun dirigé son propre quartet en première partie. Le saxophoniste dans une veine acoustique, avec la formation « Saïgon » ; le pianiste sur son versant plus électrique, avec son « Tetraband », les doigts plaqués sur le Rhodes. C’est encore lui qu’on retrouvera, quelques jours plus tard, cette fois en duo inédit avec le pianiste Baptiste Trotignon.
