Système de collisions visuelles, linguistiques et sonores, emboîtement des pistes interprétatives, passage d’une parole solitaire aux retrouvailles agonistiques avec l’autre, ingéniosité du décor : la mise en scène d’Arnaud Troalic joue des effets théâtraux avec une grande intelligence de la suggestion illustrative. Les deux personnages bouillonnants et éruptifs qu’invente Rodrigo Garcia, interprété l’un par le brillantissime Julien Flament et l’autre par Arnaud Troalic, croisent et entrechoquent leurs logorrhées jusqu’à ne plus former qu’un seul être, pétri d’humour et de haine. C’est ce paradoxal mélange qui rend le propos du sulfureux Argentin supportable et, qui plus est, intéressant. En effet, le long monologue accusateur qui met en procès Borges et sa pusillanimité politique tire sa force de la capacité d’ironie introspective dont Garcia y fait preuve. De même, il vomit son époque et la bêtise abyssale de ses contemporains dans Goya mais invente aussi un personnage de loser hilarant dépassé par la lucidité métaphysique de ses propres enfants.
Explosion, c’est-à-dire maîtrise du chaos
A jardin, dans une vieille voiture déglinguée, Arnaud Troalic joue en français ; à cour sur un canapé défoncé, Julien Flament joue en espagnol. Les comédiens actionnent eux-mêmes le surtitrage au rythme de leur débit, usant de la contrainte de la langue comme d’un tremplin interprétatif supplémentaire. Lumières, sons et images sont commandés du plateau, donnant ainsi à la performance une forme d’autonomie qui participe à l’impression d’une irrépressible explosion en série. Une bombe à fragmentation semble avoir été déclenchée pour réveiller la mollesse et la lâcheté d’un siècle qui a érigé la compromission en valeur à force de confondre politesse et éthique. En terroristes de la scène, Arnaud Troalic et Julien Flament se permettent l’audace d’une insolence iconoclaste qui fait mouche à tous les coups tant est mesurée et pensée la pertinence de chaque effet. Jubilatoire et décapant, ce spectacle continue aujourd’hui la route du succès qu’il a emprunté dès sa création et mérite vraiment d’être découvert.
