« Il n’y a pas de corps » ; « je ne comprends pas de quoi ça parle »… C’est de ces phrases, entendues à plusieurs reprises à la sortie des spectacles de danse, que Gaël Sesboüé est parti pour créer Body West End (2008). Le chorégraphe interprétait ce solo lui-même, avant de le transmettre à la (très belle) danseuse Marie-Laure Caradec. Il y pose la question du corps qui se défait de la « magnificence » que l’on attend parfois d’un spectacle de danse, de la « signifiance » que l’on est tenté d’y chercher… De quoi le corps est-il le signe, quand la notion de langage, voire de signification, cède le pas ?

Toujours à la Maison Jean-Vilar, on pourra au cours du même après-midi apprécier le travail de Mickaël Phelippeau. Depuis 2004, il explore une démarche intitulée « bi-portrait », qui l’a notamment vu se mettre en scène avec Jean-Yves Robert, curé de Bègles : la chorégraphie est sous-tendue par un portrait croisé, et toute la démarche consiste alors à aller vers l’autre, et à interroger son altérité. Il présente son bi-portrait Yves C., créé en 2008 : dans cette pièce de 60 minutes, il danse avec Yves Calvez, qui est le chorégraphe d’un groupe de danse traditionnelle bretonne de la commune de Guissény. Tous deux seront accompagnés par les danseurs de ce groupe. Pour le chorégraphe, ce travail a été l’occasion de découvrir une forme de danse singulière : la danse round, danse locale du Finistère Nord, qui se pratique en cercle, et en chant permanent. « La transe résultant de la danse round est l’un des aspects qui m’a le plus marqué », souligne le chorégraphe ; « à travers la ritournelle, la dépense d’énergie, le face-à-face, le rapport intérieur-extérieur, Yves et moi tendons en permanence à atteindre un état qui nous dépasse. » Les passerelles entre les recherches chorégraphiques actuelles et les danses traditionnelles sont trop rares pour que l’on ne se réjouisse pas d’une telle rencontre, joyeuse et exigeante.
