Leur nouvel enregistrement, qui emprunte son titre au poème de Baudelaire,
est placé sous le double signe de la mélodie française et de la nostalgie,
laissant le soin à la voix du violoncelle de restituer la poésie de partitions
de Fauré, Debussy, Duparc (et bien d’autres) d’une profonde délicatesse. « Travailler
ces mélodies françaises m’a replongé dans les plis mélancoliques de ma jeunesse,
lorsque j’écoutais avec passion Les Nuits d’été par Régine Crespin. Dans
le monde si subtil et varié de la mélodie française, nous avons choisi les
?uvres les plus directement expressives, celles qui se passent le plus aisément
des paroles » confie Demarquette. « C’est comme si nous avions saisi le
moment où tous les compositeurs regardent brièvement en arrière, regrettant le
temps d’un éclair, un bonheur qui n?est plus’ » enchaîne Engerer. Au moment
même où paraît cet album attachant chez Warner, les deux musiciens se retrouvent
ensemble sur la scène des Concerts du Dimanche Matin dans des ?uvres de Chopin,
Fauré et Prokofiev. Parions qu’ils seront tentés de glisser, en bis, une ou deux
de ces petites perles d’émotion que recèle leur nouvel opus discographique.
