Coincé au bas d’une montagne, tassé par le froid glacial contre le temps arrêté, Bulbus s’est depuis longtemps engourdi dans sa tranquillité figée de village perdu. Les habitants, des gens simples, robustes, un peu rudes même et pas bien curieux, vaquent aux tâches quotidiennes avec brave résignation et se retrouvent le soir venu pour faire des parties de curling, discuter de leurs affaires, rarement d’eux-mêmes. Jusqu’à ce que l’arrivée d’un jeune couple d’étrangers vienne troubler cette paisible routine. Aussi blafards l’un que l’autre, ils portent tous deux un curieux stigmate dans le dos : un œil, tatoué par la foudre… trace archaïque de leur histoire d’enfants abandonnés par leurs parents une même nuit, séparés, menacés, finalement noués par le destin et voués à s’aimer.
Une énigme inaltérable
Déroutant les lignes du récit en infiltrant l’étrangeté au cœur d’une réalité familière, Anja Hilling glisse vers un conte où la trivialité du réel enlace le mystère du songe dans un contexte crûment contemporain. L’auteure allemande gratte la surface du présent scellée par les années pour découvrir le passé ankylosé et les souvenirs écorchés. « Dans un monde d’apparence simple, le poids d’une mémoire gelée vient affleurer dans les gestes les plus quotidiens d’un groupe d’humains prisonniers de leur passé, empêchant la génération suivante de lui succéder, la piégeant dans son désir d’immobilité et d’oubli... », analyse Daniel Jeanneteau. A travers cette fable énigmatique tendue comme une enquête policière, le metteur en scène fait entendre le cri sourd des blessures sans résolution, celui des violences sans réponses qui bruissent au creux des êtres.
