Jazzman, pataphysicien, poète, romancier, ingénieur, parolier, chanteur, critique, amoureux, pacifiste, peintre, scénariste, voyageur intérieur… Homme prolifique, Boris Vian (1920-1959) a écrit plus de six cents chansons. Sur la scène du Studio-Théâtre de la Comédie-Française, neuf comédiens-chanteurs et trois musiciens explorent cet univers hétéroclite en tentant de faire entendre toute sa diversité. « J’ai voulu mettre en scène un cabaret “pressé”, explique Serge Bagdassarian, qui doit rendre compte du bouillonnement qui habitait cet homme, à la fois touche-à-tout de génie, et hanté par un nihilisme obsédant. (…) Vian a produit une œuvre d’une densité rare, et ses chansons reflètent plus que l’humeur du temps, que la nostalgie des années 1950 à Saint-Germain : elles donnent à entendre l’urgence de vivre. » Sur le chemin des paradoxes de l’auteur du Déserteur, la troupe de la Comédie-Française rend hommage à un être « infiniment libre, doucement léger et, dans le même temps, lunaire et grave ».
