Emblématiques d’une nouvelle génération de musiciens “digital natives“, les membres du Cabaret Contemporain se situent naturellement au carrefour des musiques “contemporaines“ (au sens où on l’entend dans le domaine de la musique classique) et “actuelles“. Ce nouveau programme, déjà présenté dans le cadre du prestigieux festival Musica de Strasbourg, propose une relecture de la musique de John Cage à l’occasion du centième anniversaire de la naissance du compositeur américain. « Nous proposons des versions pour un instrumentarium original de certaines des pièces du compositeur les plus percussives et les plus rythmiques, révélatrices de sa première période de composition, des pièces essentiellement pour percussion, telles que Living Room Music, Dance Music, Three Dances, Third Construction ou encore Credo in US, pour un instrumentarium original (…) : guitare électrique, batterie, contrebasse, piano préparé et synthétiseur » expliquent les membres de l’ensemble (Fabrizio Rat, Giani Caserotto, Ronan Courty et Julien Loutelier), issus pour la plupart de la classe d’improvisation du Conservatoire de Paris. Pour ce projet décapant, le Cabaret contemporain accueille en invité spécial, Étienne Jaumet, du groupe électro Zombie Zombie, ce qui augure d’une fin de soirée qui devrait, en toute logique, se prolonger sur le dancefloor…
