Cela pourrait commencer comme n’importe quel spectacle de cirque : la parade nous emmène voir les comédiens, voir les magiciens… Ici, c’est le groupe des Alcolytes qui s’en charge, ouvrant le chemin du chapiteau par une déambulation musicale aux accents yiddish. Il est vrai que la musique joue un grand rôle tout au long du spectacle, changeant les ambiances au fil des numéros, créant à elle seule l’atmosphère avant la présence des corps. On aime leur éclectisme et les choix musicaux qui collent à chaque personnage, on aime leur présence sur le bord de la piste en complicité avec les étudiants de l’académie. Mais place aux circassiens, qui, sous la houlette du chorégraphe Pierre Doussaint et du metteur en scène Jean-Yves Pénafiel, portent haut ce spectacle qui a tout à voir avec un bric à brac. Le principe du « numéro » tisse la toile de Cabaric’ à Brac, enchaînant les performances et les agrès sans difficulté. C’est donc sur les personnages qu’il est préférable de s’attarder, tous jouant un rôle dans ce grand fourre-tout onirique où l’excès et la poésie font loi. On y croise un alpiniste en quête de sommet, des naïades telles Esther Williams, Alice, Tarzan, le faune ou des danseurs de claquettes.
Au centre de la piste, l’interprète et ses prouesses
Ce qui touche avant tout dans cette mise en piste, c’est la fraîcheur et la légèreté qui se dégagent du groupe. Tout l’intérêt de se projet réside en réalité dans la façon dont chaque apprenti a pu se saisir de la proposition artistique qui lui était offerte. Sans doute ne pouvaient-ils pas rêver meilleur cadeau tant la mise en valeur de chaque personne et de chaque technique saute aux yeux. Quand d’ordinaire l’étudiant est mis au service d’un grand tout, ici il se dévoile et la performance est au rendez-vous. Les solos sont bluffants de virtuosité (mention spéciale au renne et à son diabolo), les duos sont cousus de fil d’or : Doussaint et Pénafiel n’ont pas hésité à explorer les relations troubles des corps à corps, comme avec cette Alice tout au service de son tyran, où ces deux trapézistes au cœur d’un conflit amour-haine. Il faudrait revenir plusieurs fois pour déceler ce qui se trame vraiment dans ce Cabaric’à Brac. Car, même si la bonne humeur et la fête inondent le spectacle, ceux-ci semblent cacher des états de corps et des personnalités beaucoup plus troubles et complexes qu’il n’y paraît.
