« La production d’écritures dramatiques dans les anciens pays de l’Est est prolifique. Ils ont vécu en quelques années ce qu’on vit doucement depuis 50 ans : le tout-libéral s’est imposé à eux violemment et à très grande vitesse. De nombreux auteurs venus de ces pays, qui ont entre trente et quarante ans, nous tendent donc un miroir déconcertant. Ce qu’on écrit en France avec une violence sous-jacente explose littéralement dans leur littérature. D’où un style souvent trash, qui hésite entre néo-réalisme et envolées poétiques. Dans Stop the tempo, Gianina Carbunariu conjugue les deux. Un DJ qui deviendra sourd, une publicitaire lesbienne et une intérimaire, qui trime pour payer à ses parents tout ce qu’ils voient à la télé, s’embarquent dans une entreprise de terrorisme désuet : ils veulent couper le courant. C’est le seul recours, le seul possible que trouve cette génération qui a envie de tout faire péter mais n’a rien à proposer derrière. Arrêter. Tout arrêter et discuter. Car tout comme nous, ils sont incapables d’imaginer un post-capitalisme, ou autre chose que cette démocratie qui fonce droit dans le mur.
Pièce noire et drôle
Ces personnages, nous avons voulu les traiter comme des individus, des êtres humains pareils à ceux qu’on croise tous les jours. Dans le texte, ils alternent monologues intérieurs et passages face au public. Il a fallu universaliser leur langage sans le banaliser, rendre beau les « putain » et « merde » qui ponctuent leur phrasé. Car cette pièce, profondément noire et drôle, fait cohabiter ce langage du quotidien avec des poèmes et des chants patriotiques. L’écriture de Carbunariu me fait d’ailleurs penser à Shakespeare dans cette manière de faire se côtoyer grotesque et sublime, de basculer si rapidement du rire aux larmes. Elle raconte le vide de l’existence d’une génération. Et nous, dans le collectif, nous y appartenons tous. »
