NOUVELLE PRODUCTION / VERSAILLES
C’est une résurrection comme l’Opéra royal de Versailles aime à les proposer. Catone in Utica est l’un des (très nombreux) opéras qui avaient en son temps (peu ou prou celui de Bach et Haendel) fait de Leonardo Vinci l’un des compositeurs les plus en vue de la scène napolitaine. Pour ressusciter cet art du tour de force vocal (le livret compte finalement bien moins que les prouesses des solistes), il fallait disposer de voix pouvant retrouver quelque peu l’esprit de ces véritables joutes que se livraient les castrats adulés de l’époque. Avec les trois contre-ténors Max Emanuel Cencic, Franco Fagioli et Valer Sabadus (quel plateau !), l’Opéra royal pourrait faire revivre quelque chose du Théâtre San Carlo d’alors, où la ferveur publique s’exprimait bruyamment.
