« J’entretiens une relation très profonde à l’œuvre de Shakespeare. C’est un peu comme s’il s’agissait de ma langue naturelle. C’est, en effet, en travaillant des pièces de Shakespeare, alors que j’étais étudiante au Conservatoire, que j’ai compris comment me positionner au sein d’un espace scénique, comment mélanger le concret et la poésie, le profane et le sacré. C’est vraiment grâce à ce répertoire que j’ai pu mettre en place mon art de comédienne, que j’ai réussi à appréhender toutes les palettes de mon instrument de jeu. J’ai conservé de cette période de grandes intuitions, de grandes images intérieures qui m’ont souvent aidée à aborder d’autres écritures. Voilà pourquoi j’avais depuis longtemps envie de créer un spectacle musical à partir de l’univers de Shakespeare, un spectacle qui mêle les Sonnets à des extraits de pièces.
Trois personnages qui s’exilent dans une forêt
La trame dramaturgique de Fous dans la forêt est inspirée de Comme il vous plaira et de La Nuit des rois. Un trio de personnages – une jeune femme, son fou et son musicien – s’exile dans une forêt pour faire l’expérience d’une vie utopique. Tous trois repensent l’existence autrement, à l’abri des tumultes et des vacarmes. Certaines parties du spectacle sont en français, d’autres en anglais. J’ai souhaité varier le plus possible les accès à la représentation afin de rompre avec toute impression de monotonie. Il y a ainsi des moments de grande clarté sur le texte et des moments où les spectateurs sont davantage laissés à leurs sensations – tout en veillant à ce que personne ne puisse jamais se sentir exclu de ce qui se passe sur scène. Fous dans la forêt se nourrit d’un rapport au monde un peu contemplatif. J’aimerais que le public se laisse embarquer dans une autre relation au temps, qu’il puisse d’une certaine façon lui échapper : comme s’il était en suspension à l’intérieur d’une bulle d’air, à l’intérieur d’une bulle d’air musicale. »
