Elle fêtera ses trente ans en 2019 mais elle n’a pas attendu le nombre des années pour imposer son talent. Cécile McLorin Salvant semble maîtriser à la perfection tout ce qui est nécessaire pour être une grande chanteuse de jazz : une aisance scénique confondante ; un timbre, unique, reconnaissable en quelques notes ; une technique époustouflante, forgée à l’école classique sans que cela n’affecte son swing ; une présence généreuse et lumineuse, qui en fait une artiste authentique. Lauréate en 2010 du concours Thelonious-Monk, la plus prestigieuse compétition pour le jazz aux Etats-Unis, elle a remporté un troisième Grammy pour l’album « The Window » réalisé entièrement en duo avec le pianiste Sullivan Fortner l’an dernier. C’est le répertoire de ce disque, enregistré en toute simplicité, touchant et sincère, qu’elle présente au cours d’une tournée qui, en région parisienne, fait étape au New Morning et au théâtre de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines.
