JAZZ VOCAL / BOULOGNE-BILLANCOURT / VELIZY
Du Conservatoire d’Aix-en-Provence où elle a passé quelques années à sa victoire en 2010 de la prestigieuse Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition puis à sa rencontre avec Wynton Marsalis, Cécile McLorin Salvant a construit une trajectoire qui fait d’elle l’une des vocalistes les plus exceptionnelles de sa génération. Cécile, qui a grandi sous le soleil de Floride entourée d’une mère franco-américaine et d’un père haïtien, parle un français parfait et cultive son identité de chanteuse de jazz américaine aujourd’hui installée à New York (où elle est dans les petits papiers du Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra). Il faut d’emblée la situer dans la lignée de jazzwomen authentiques telles que Cassandra Wilson, Elizabeth Kontomanou ou Gretchen Parlato. Ces deux concerts franciliens nous plongent au cœur de la musique du récent album Woman Child et des recherches de son et d’interplay que mène la chanteuse avec son virtuose trio acoustique piloté par le pianiste Aaron Diehl avec Paul Sikivie à la contrebasse et Rodney Green à la batterie. Une découverte indispensable.
