« Un jour Madame, elle poussera sa mère dehors avec toutes ses miettes et ses vérités, même à 95 ans … » C’est d’elle-même, fille indigne, dont parle la narratrice de C’est mon jour d’indépendance, une pièce de Stéphanie Marchais mise en scène par Christine Farré. Vivre avec sa mère égoïste, acariâtre, tyrannique, être condamnée au titre dévalorisé de rejeton féminin, déprécié encore puisque Angèle est, à travers son parcours professionnel, aide-soignante à domicile au service des personnes âgées. Elle voulait être chirurgienne, une condition sociale autrement prestigieuse : « Tu n’as pas les capacités », ce sont les remarques cinglantes que la fille unique et mère elle-même d’un fils autiste entend depuis l’enfance de la méchante bouche maternelle. La victime admet qu’on finit par devenir les mots qu’on vous dit. « C’est difficile la vie de famille, c’est difficile la vie tout court » : l’écriture de Stéphanie Marchais sonne juste. Le père d’Angèle, Simon, plus tendre, est mort. L’orpheline porte la culpabilité de cette disparition accidentelle, convaincue elle-même par les insinuations répétées de Thérèse, mère harcelante et bourreau domestique. Le lot quotidien d’Angèle est l’expérience d’une existence plus que maussade.
Histoire pathétique d’enfermement familial et social
Mais la femme soumise à sa mère reconnaît qu’ « il y a de petits bonheurs dans ses moments de rien ». Elle aime les mots et étudie leur signification. Son dictionnaire, « son » Robert par exemple, c’est sa « beauté », son « voyage en privé ». Confidente pour qui veut l’écouter, la bavarde cause pour deux : elle égrène son chagrin et les racines de sa joie coupées à vie par le faux foyer parental. Vivre demande du courage, c’est mourir qui est à la portée de tous. Ressassant cette pensée au pied de la lettre, la soignante accorde la mort à l’une de ses patientes qu’elle emmène en voyage au sens propre et figuré. A-t-on le droit de tuer ? Oui, dit Angèle, “c’est mon jour d’indépendance“ pour que d’autres aient droit à leur fin choisie. L’histoire pathétique d’enfermement familial et social et de “libération“ souffrirait d’une tristesse bien noire si le comédien Pierre Carrive qui interprète Angèle n’était naturellement enjoué. L’acteur seul sur le plateau lève le coude pour boire quelques rasades de sa bouteille de survie et donne le meilleur de lui-même pour exprimer le malheur d’Angèle, une héroïne au regard éclairé et naufragé, robe rouge, petit chapeau à fleur et étole aux oiseaux migrateurs. Malgré les sourires, reste une vision désespérée du monde, sans lumière ni enchantement.
