Aussi étonnant que cela puisse paraître, le château de François Ier n’avait jusqu’alors jamais été saisi de façon régulière et pérenne de la fièvre festivalière qui s’empare chaque été des lieux emblématiques du patrimoine monumental français. Ce premier Festival de Chambord, confié à la direction artistique de Vanessa Wagner, fait le choix d’une programmation largement dédiée au piano. Ainsi, Brigitte Engerer (18 juillet), la jeune et brillante Marie Vermeulin (le 21, dans Schubert, Ravel et Messiaen), François-Frédéric Guy (le 21), Olivier Cavé (Bach, Scarlatti et Clementi sur piano moderne, le 22), Bertrand Chamayou (le 23) ou Adam Laloum, récent lauréat du Prix Clara Haskil (le 26), se succéderont-ils sur la scène dressée dans la cour du château, dans des programmes faisant la part belle au romantisme et en particulier, bicentenaire oblige, à l’œuvre de Liszt.
Une programmation largement dédiée au piano
La programmation s’élargit à la musique de chambre avec le violoncelliste Pavel Gomziakov et Vanessa Wagner elle-même (le 17), le Trio Wanderer (le 20), le Quatuor Diotima (le 23) ; et la musique sur instruments anciens (avec le trio composé de Stéphanie-Marie Degand, Miguel Da Silva et Raphaël Pidoux, le 20) comme la création contemporaine (œuvres de Jonathan Harvey, Mark André, Alessandro Solbiati et Brice Pauset par l’ensemble Alternance, le 28) trouveront place dans la chapelle du château. Deux concerts symphoniques ouvrent et clôturent le festival. Le très actif François-Xavier Roth propose avec son orchestre Les Siècles un programme Mozart (31e Symphonie) et Beethoven (5e Symphonie) entrecoupé d’airs de Mozart et Gluck chantés par la remarquable Isabelle Druet, et Jean-Yves Ossonce, qui fait un très beau travail avec l’Orchestre symphonique de Tours, dirigera Brahms et Tchaïkovski. Enfin, la Renaissance a ici naturellement sa place et, le 24 juillet, l’ensemble Doulce Mémoire fera revivre en connaisseur un bal à la cour d’Henri IV.
