Comment avez-vous été amenée à travailler en France ?
J’ai d’abord présenté il y a quelques années un solo pour les Repérages organisés par Danse à Lille. C’est une plateforme, et c’est comme ça que le collectif Essonne Danse m’a « repérée ». Ils m’ont invitée à présenter le même solo dans leur festival l’année dernière. J’ai également fait une tournée CCAS de ce solo pendant l’été dans le sud de la France. Parallèlement je continue de travailler pour d’autres compagnies, comme celles de José Navas, ou Ginette Laurin, pour laquelle j’ai également tourné en France, mais je souhaite développer de plus en plus mes propres recherches.
Quel est ce solo ?
Il s’agit de One Hundred Returnings, que je présente d’ailleurs à nouveau cette année. Dans cette pièce je pose la question « Qui sommes-nous, en tant qu’êtres humains ? ». Je recherche les connections avec la nature, les animaux… Je travaille beaucoup avec le concept de transformation dans le corps. Je m’intéresse à un tel processus, à la notion de devenir qui est vraiment la base de mon travail. Ensuite, je trouve les formes qui peuvent habiter physiquement ces questionnements.
Vous avez également l’habitude de travailler avec d’autres médias.
J’ai beaucoup travaillé avec la vidéo, auparavant : j’ai fait des installations, des vidéos-danse… moins maintenant. Je croise les disciplines, mais ce doit toujours être dans une nécessité par rapport à mon propos. Il y a toujours dans mes pièces un mariage, un jeu, avec des textes, les lumières, le dessin, les éléments de scénographie, les costumes. Toujours dans un rapport simple entre eux. De plus en plus, je m’intéresse à la relation entre le son et la performance, à la façon dont on construit le son avec le corps ou avec les situations. Je développe mon travail dans cette direction cette année.
Etes-vous proche de la performance ?
Je suis proche du concept de la performance en tant que rituel, et non comme un spectacle. Bien sûr, il y a des lumières, du son, de façon conventionnelle, mais les choses que je présente sont plus inspirées par la forme du rituel.
Comme votre duo, Just Beings, qui est inspiré des rites chamaniques.
Oui, c’est la base, mais cela n’apparaît pas de façon évidente dans la pièce. Dans ma vie, et avec les danseurs qui travaillent avec moi, nous formons une communauté qui met en oeuvre des explorations chamaniques. Cela instruit le processus, sans pour autant en être le thème. Le duo se construit avec des petites séquences narratives portées par différents personnages. Les situations sont créées pour exposer juste un état de l’être humain. Il n’y a pas de grands mouvements chorégraphiques, mais plutôt des « tâches », des jeux. J’y aborde différentes perspectives, différents angles pour voir l’humanité, l’être et le devenir, ses transformations.
