Camille Claudel est le premier volet – aux côtés de Thérèse d’Avila et de Sarah Kane – d’un triptyque "Charles Gonzalès devient…" dont l’enjeu sur le plateau n’est plus l’interprétation théâtrale même grandiose mais la performance qui devient œuvre. Pour le spectacle sur Camille Claudel, le public est convié à l’écoute d’un monologue extrêmement singulier, composé à partir des lettres que Camille écrivit à sa mère, à son frère et à son amant. Pour celle qui fut internée trente années jusqu’à sa mort dans un asile d’aliénés du Sud de la France, cette parole proférée devient planche de salut, l’expression d’un havre douloureux mêlé à la fois de souffrances et d’espérances vives projetées sur la vie qui va, malgré tout. L’acteur Charles Gonzalès est Camille, cette recluse en guenilles vêtue des oripeaux de l’abandon, trop sensible pour exister socialement et dont l’œuvre artistique n’en reste pas moins le témoignage intensément moderne d’un regard lucide sur nos temps incertains. L’émotion due au mal de vivre est irremplaçable.
