Charles Tordjman : J’ai luSlogans de Maria Soudaïeva sur les conseils d’un ami journaliste. A la fin de la lecture, la tension éprouvée était telle qu’une sensation physique de manque d’air m’a envahi. Je me devais de porter la même intensité à l’oral. J’ai demandé à Volodine de porter au théâtre cette écriture, l’écrivain a inséré dans le texte de Soudaïeva ses propres Vociférations. J’ai monté un premier chantier du spectacle dans le sous-sol du Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nancy, une lecture avec Agnès Sourdillon et mon fils Vincent, scénographe et musicien. Un piano diffusait une musique, la trace de l’existence des femmes prostituées, mortes humiliées.

Qui est Maria Soudaïeva ?
Ch. T. : Antoine Volodine, traducteur de l’œuvre, informe le lecteur del’itinéraire inouï de cette femme suicidée. Soudaïeva, habituée des séjours en hôpital psychiatrique, a écrit dans le chaos ces bouts de texte donnés à Volodine à Macau. Membre d’une organisation anarchiste, elle se méfiait viscéralement de l’État. Dans cette partie de l’Extrême-Orient soviétique, non loin du Guang dong, elle a monté un réseau d’entraide pour les filles de Khabarovsk ou Vladivostok, qui souhaitaient échapper à leurs souteneurs et à la mafia.
Quelle est la force de cette écriture ?
Ch. T. : Slogans est une œuvre poétique majeure dans laquelle le concept du slogan, ici une arme idéologique réservée aux pouvoirs autoritaires de droite ou bien de gauche pervertie, est retourné contre lui-même. Les victimes, des femmes prostituées en attente de la mort, retournent cette parole autoritaire contre ceux qui la profèrent. Slogans représente une arme poétique et politique.
Quatre femmes investissent le plateau, Marion Bottollier, Julie Pilod, Violaine Schwartz, Agnès Sourdillon.
Ch. T. : Le personnage de Maria Soudaïeva est présent sur le plateau, et raconte le contexte sociologique et géopolitique. À ses côtés, deux prostituées recluses dans une soute à bateau avant leur massacre, sans doute passées à l’acide puis brûlées par la mafia. Volodine a créé une quatrième femme, sorte de Mère de toutes les suppliciées, reine des gueuses qui les attend et les invite à la vengeance. Voilà quatre femmes au combat face à un pouvoir masculin criminel. La rédemption de la langue, ce salut poétique de l’humain qui ouvre les écluses de nos imaginaires, constitue une issue au désespoir. Comme l’aurait dit René Char, la mort est sublimée grâce à l’art.
