MUSIQUE DU MONDE / STUDIO DE L’ERMITAGE
Multi-instrumentiste, compositeur, chanteur et directeur musical, Cheick Tidiane Seck est, à 60 ans, le prototype du musicien total, capable de tout, « de passer d’une simple mélodie folklorique à des harmonies modernes et sophistiquées ». Son carnet de bal confirme ses atouts démoniaques : Joe Zawinul, Fela, Wayne Shorter, Oumou Sangaré, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Carlos Santana, Hank Jones, etc… Un an après la sortie de son album frondeur « Guerrier », étape majeure d’une carrière solo débutée sur le tard, en 2003, avec l’album « Mandingroove », il s’installe sur scène, entouré de nombreux amis invités, pour un concert de fête et de combat, le 22 mai à 20h30. Une semaine plus tard, ce sera au groupe Akalé Wubé de porter la parole libre et groove d’un « ethio-jazz » inspiré qui doit autant à ses propres compositions originales qu’à des reprises de chansons du répertoire populaire éthiopien des années 60 et 70, parfois dénichées sur de vieilles cassettes audio rapportées d’Ethiopie…
