Il n’a connu de sa mère naturelle que le ventre et n’a conservé de l’orphelinat Saint-Vincent-de-Paul que les odeurs : Sébastien Bertrand, grandi aux bords du marais vendéen et élevé par des parents adoptifs français n’avait pas souvenir de son Liban natal. Le désir de revenir vers le sol de son sang lui est venu à l’occasion du spectacle Forêts de Wajdi Mouawad, vu un soir, à Nantes. Yannick Jaulin, acteur dans la pièce, a reçu ce soir-là un coup de téléphone du « petit noiraud typique de ce marais nord Vendée » lui racontant sa vie et la soif de retrouver la terre de ses origines. Les deux hommes ont composé ensemble (Jaulin pour le texte, Bertrand pour la musique) un spectacle interrogeant « l’identité, la culture, l’héritage familial, le droit du sang, le droit du sol, la tradition, l’héritage culturel » à partir d’un collectage mémoriel et sensible. Sébastien Bertrand fait glisser son accordéon entre musiques inspirées du fond ancien, musiques populaires, musiques contemporaines et improvisations et pérégrine dans les ambiances sonores des lieux marquants de son parcours musical et identitaire.
