Les petits personnages anodins, un peu hâbleurs, beaux parleurs souvent éméchés, généreux et authentiques que Jean-Pierre Bodin sait faire revivre sur scène sont toujours réjouissants et émouvants. Poète du quotidien, conteur de l’ordinaire, homme du sens parce que du simple, Jean-Pierre Bodin rit avec et jamais contre ceux dont il raconte les histoires, comme François, imbibé au rouge limé et ébéniste de son état, proposant au contrebassiste de l’orchestre musette de lui fabriquer un instrument à moitié prix en bois massif… L’auteur et comédien se livre à un éloge gourmand de l’univers des bals et à une chronique savoureuse des choses et des gens en un spectacle qui s’achève pour tous sur la piste de bal, cavalière au bras et canon de rouge à la main. Après le succès continué du Banquet de la Sainte Cécile, qui racontait l’humanité du monde des harmonies municipales, ce nouveau spectacle plonge dans celle du peuple fraternel des petits bals où s’écrasent les orteils, naissent les bagarres et les idylles et chavirent les cœurs…
