Après Maraina en 2005, le Théâtre Vollard de l’île de la Réunion vient de créer un deuxième « opéra d’outremer », intitulé Chin, à l’affiche du Théâtre Jean Vilar de Vitry. A l’origine de ces deux ouvrages se trouve le binôme formé par le compositeur Jean-Luc Trulès et l’auteur et metteur en scène Emmanuel Genvrin. Dans Chin, ils ont choisi d’aborder un thème occulté par les manuels d’histoire : la tentation maoïste dans les mouvements de décolonisation des îles. En écho, une poignante tragédie familiale et sociale et une ode à la liberté, sur une musique métissée riche et expressive. Pour l’occasion ont été réunis des acteurs et chanteurs des DOM-TOM (originaires de la Réunion, de la Martinique et de la Guadeloupe), mais aussi de Madagascar, de Chine et… de métropole, avec notamment la présence de l’Orchestre de l’Opéra de Massy. Un ouvrage musicalement prometteur, à ne pas manquer en cette année des Outre-mer.
