En 2010, à l’occasion des 200 ans de la naissance de Chopin, l’Institut polonais avait lancé à Paris un festival dédié à ce compositeur, véritable « gloire nationale ». Forte d’un beau succès public, la manifestation est depuis reproduite chaque année. Car ce festival ne manque pas d’atouts : les concerts sont en plein air (dans le kiosque du Jardin du Luxembourg) et gratuits. Mais surtout, la programmation, audacieuse, permet de sortir des sentiers battus. La preuve avec les cinq rendez-vous de cette édition 2013 : le Lutoslawski Piano Duo revisite à deux pianos les grandes pages de Chopin (le 16 juin), Anna Serafinska propose des arrangements jazz de thèmes du compositeur polonais (le 23 juin), François Dumont, arrivé en Finale lors du dernier Concours Chopin de Varsovie, s’attaque à la Sonate n°3 (le 30 juin), Anna Jastrzebska-Quinn et Monika Quinn (mère et fille) proposent un programme en solo et à quatre mains, avec notamment une suite de Balakirev d’après Chopin (le 14 juillet), sans oublier un concert jeunes talents (le 7 juillet). A noter que tous les concerts se déroulent le dimanche à 17h.
