En mai 2016, elle avait chanté à Paris, déjà à l’invitation du Théâtre de la Ville, en compagnie d’une autre star du fado : Camané. La grande Cristina Branco est de retour sur les bords de la Seine, au milieu d’une tournée européenne, dans une formule acoustique et intimiste où les chansons de son dernier album en date, Menina, distraitement accueilli en France, auront la part belle. Un nouveau répertoire où comme à son habitude elle a su s’entourer des meilleures plumes. On pense en particulier à Pedro da Silva Martins et Luís Martins (du groupe Deolinda) ou au célèbre écrivain António Lobo Antunes. Après presque vingt ans de parcours dans un paysage du fado contemporain qu’elle a largement contribué à redessiner, par l’audace de ses choix et par la grâce d’une voix imparable et d’un visage à la beauté céleste de Madone, Cristina Branco poursuit sa route avec sérénité, humilité et émotion. « Résumer ces années est une tâche ingrate pour qui tient le chant, la scène, la vie, pour un vertige. Et j’aime ce parcours, et surtout ma véhémence à ne pas ajouter une virgule à mon projet de vie. » confiait la chanteuse en 2014, lors de la publication de l’anthologie « Idealist », résumant en 3 CD une carrière de 17 ans et 13 albums…
