Les concours de piano ont tendance à programmer toujours les mêmes œuvres, virtuoses, de l’époque romantique, Chopin et Rachmaninov en tête. Sauf un : le concours international d’Orléans, dédié à la musique moderne et contemporaine. L’édition 2010 a été remportée par un jeune américain, Christopher Falzone, qui vient d’enregistrer un album consacré à des œuvres, rares, du roumain Georges Enesco et de Yevgeniy Sharlat, compositeur russe né en 1977 (Sisyphe). Dans la foulée, il se produit en récital au Théâtre de l’Athénée avec un programme autour du thème, très large, de la transcription. Sont réunis notamment la Fantaisie sur un ostinato de John Corigliano, une transcription d’une sonate de Scarlatti, la Lulu-rhapsodie de Yevgeniy Sharlat, sans oublier Petrouchka de Stravinsky. La prochaine édition du Concours d’Orléans est prévue quant à elle en février et mars prochain, avec notamment une création de Jacques Lenot.
