Il est considéré, outre-Rhin, comme l’un des metteurs en scène les plus talentueux de sa génération. Né en Allemagne en 1985, Christopher Rüping nous plonge aujourd’hui dans La Vita nuova de Dante, texte à travers lequel l’auteur florentin fait le récit de son amour pour Béatrice, femme qu’il rencontre pour la première fois alors qu’ils ne sont l’un et l’autre que des enfants. Béatrice meurt à l’âge de 24 ans, sans que le poète ait pu rendre concrets ses sentiments. Sur le plateau, dans une représentation invitant des figures de la culture populaire comme Britney Spears et Meat Loaf, les comédiens William Cooper, Viviane De Muynck, Henni Jörissen, Damian Rebgetz et Anne Rietmeijer mêlent différents langages scéniques pour interpréter cette « ode poétique et mystique, dans laquelle la sublimation de l’être aimé prend corps à travers les mots ».
